I meant to have these daiquiris ready to post this past Thursday...but I couldn't get a ripe mango to save my life! This weeks
Barefoot Bloggers recipe was chosen by Veronica of
Supermarket Serenade...and I loved it! Although my mangoes still were not as ripe and I would have preferred, I decided I'd better get a move on and make at least one batch of these daiquiris before I was too far behind with my posting! I don't even feel like I need to say they were amazing. Banana + Mango + Rum = Tropical Delight! I just made a couple of minor alterations, based on what I had (or didn't have) in the house. The recipe calls for dark rum and limes....I used light rum and key limes. I don't think it detracted at all.
Mango Banana Daiquiris
slightly altered from Back to Basics by Ina Garten
2 c. chopped mango (~1-2 mangoes), peel, pit, chop
1 banana, chopped
1/2 c. lime juice ...I used the juice of ~8 key limes
1/4 c. simple syrup
1 1/4 c. dark rum ...again, I used light
2 c. ice
The recipe calls for blending everything besides the ice and blending...then adding the ice and blending again. Since I wanted to crush my ice first, I just went ahead and put my cubes into the blender and crushed them. Next I added the simple syrup, banana & mango.
Then added the rum and key lime juice and blended away!
Voila!
Not much else to say....'cept it's time to put some more "booze in the blender"! Head on over to
Barefoot Bloggers to slip even farther into a Tropical Delight.
Mangoes are my favorite fruit. This drink sounds delicious. I just went for a run so one of these sounds dreamy!
Yum! Can you please bring me one?! ;0)
oooh that looks so good!
These look amazing. I could use one or five right about now.
Thank you for leaving such a sweet ocmment, I appreciate it more than you know.
It has to be a health food with the fresh fruit, right?
Oh, yum!
This looks just the ticket for a hot humid afternoon...how refreshing!
yum, love thus
Ooo...I wish I had a glass if this right now. The weather's perfect for it. Plus, I love a good fruit daquiris, too.
We are at the tail end of a heat wave here in god's country (Kansas). Blended drinks are so good on the deck about 9 PM. With the fruit, makes a great dessert. And you use (and I assume) and make your own simple syrup. That is a great bartender trick that really separates you from the drink in a bucket mixers. Like most things chefs make, worth all the extra effort.
Well done!
oh yeah I could enjoy this with or without the alcohol...nice!
These do sound light and refreshing Heather.
you and the kitchen witch are making me want to drink foo foo fruity drinks and get liquored up!! try it with peaches - i have a bunch over my way, and after two batches of peach cobbler and a couple of smoothies, i am more than happy to move onto the hard stuff with ya!!
Kim...on my way!
Monica...I meant it :)
Katy~...for sure!
Dave...definitely. It's such a simple little trick and keeps well refrigerated!
Dog- bet you'd enjoy it a wee bit more with the alcohol :P
Lady P- Yes, you bring the peaches...well heck, I'm on my way to bring one to Kim & she's in Oregon, too so.... I'm currently drinking a pineapple/mango combo...though I've had a good day...gone through strawberry ones and pineapple/banana ones already. Woah...lush much?
Ah the perfect addition to the party! You know, between your daiquiris and my rum runners we need to invest in one of those frozen drink machines! I'm sure someone will want to make frozen margaritas too. I think we could put it too full time use - great investment! LOL! :-)
The drink looks so refreshing....perfect 4 d season.
We used up some peaches today in daiquiri's before they went bad. Those drinks by the pool, were so delicious. We didn't have rum though I would have liked it.

I'm in love with this drink : ) I have some vanilla Bahamian rum that I could drink straight from the bottle and these would be fantastic!! Wouldn't it be fun to have a big food blogger get together and drink and eat! This sounds like it could be a favorite drink.
Now I'm craving a daiquiri, I love the mango in this one - yum!!
Lushes UNITE!!! (and I didn't even have to say Sir Sportsalot ....a lot!!) hahahaha
Oooooooh la la, I love Bacardi, Mango and Banana, this cocktail looks so yummy and refreshing.
How refreshing, but I still don't know how to pick a RIPE mango.
Great pictures! Your daiquiris turned out looking wonderful--this was a fun one!
Great looking daiquiris! Mango and banana are a classic combination.
Angie's Recipes
Kim...Vanilla Bahamian Rum, OMG! And YES that would rock! :D
Dani...LMAO...Lushes Unite!!! And you did get one SSA in, so....DRINK!
Coleen...I've come to learn it's all about "feel"..sort of "giving" like a ripe avocado feel...
Deb...thanks, and yes, a great choice :D
YUMM! I love all things banana :)
that looks wonderful refreshing. I love the combination of mango and banana. cool recipe...
Anyone who quotes Jimmy Buffet has a special place in my heart!
I love this drink, and I think light rum is nicer with fruit drinks. Yum!
I would love this without the mango. I don't even like to be in the same room as one! I'm a bad Asian, aren't I?
Lovely pictures and your substitutions could not possibly change the goodness of this drink. Even though I am not a fan of fruity drinks it did taste good.
Great combo!! I may try this out!
Mmmm, daiquiris. Looks great. :)
What a delicious addition this would be to a party. These look great.
Dude, what's up with us and the rock-hard mangoes?? At least you didn't cheat like I did!
Perfect drink for the dog days of summer!
I bet this is like sweet nectar in your mouth! So refreshing and sooooo yummy!!!
Ok... this sounds totally amazing!! YUM!!!!
I've been out of "circulation" for a week... an unfortunate trip to the hospital again... and this is just what I need to get back into the swing of things again!... it sounds divine... thanks!
hellloooooo girlfriend! what say I come swinging over and you prepare a pitcher of that amazing stuff for me? ;-)
...and soon it will render...that frozen concoction that helps me hang on! Yummy!
I'm pretty sure I haven't had a banana daquiri since a long ago Spring Break in Cancun. Now I wonder why I waited for so long!
This could actually be my breakfast, heehee.. like a bloody mary kinda breakfast!
You're speaking my language! It's fantastic, so refreshing!
...wasted away again...in daiquiriville!? LOL...wrong drink, same concept... :D
Ah, so refreshing...Delicious pics!
I don't think i can have enough of this!
I recommend frozen mangoes. Freeze some yourself when you find some good ripe ones, if you are so inclined. I have a bag in the freezer because they are so good. Though my bag is almost empty....
Very refreshing, I love that you used key limes in this drink!
I once had an "issue" with rum but I think in this drink I could handle it. I tried rum mixed with diet coke the other day and I realize that it was to early to go back to rum and soda drinks. Mind you this issue happened like four years ago...haha.
Never had a banana-mango daiquiri but just thinking of is make my mouth water.
