A simple post today...to satisfy a simple need. The need for a cookie. I first saw this cookie over at ReTorte (Wandering Coyote originally saw them at Picky Palate)...then at My Tasty Treasures...and finally I decided it was time to make it (and I'm betting many others have tried this cookie by now, too)! I love this cookie because it has all the warm, fresh-baked goodness of a homemade chocolate chip cookie straight from the oven plus the added bonus of a childhood favorite Oreo! What's not to love? It's also quick...I did it all by hand, no mixer needed...I was feeling that lazy (no unnecessary dishes, please).
Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies
adapted from Picky Palate
yield: ~4 dozen
8 oz. (2 sticks) butter, at room temp.
¾ c. granulated sugar
¾ c. packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, at room temp.
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. fine sea salt
16 Oreos, broken into pieces
1 c. chocolate chips (any variety you like)
¾ c. granulated sugar
¾ c. packed brown sugar
2 large eggs, at room temp.
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
2½ c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. fine sea salt
16 Oreos, broken into pieces
1 c. chocolate chips (any variety you like)
Cream your sugars and butter together. Add egg and vanilla and mix well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl and mix. Add dry ingredients to your wet ingredients. Mix until well combined. Fold in broken Oreos and chocolate chips. Refrigerate an hour or overnight.
Preheat oven to 350° F. Drop by ~1 Tbs. scoops onto lined cookie sheet. Bake 8-11 minutes...they should still be soft. Let cool on sheet pan for 3 minutes, then transfer to a rack to finish cooling
I can see why this recipe gets around...

Oh yeah, I've seen these too. Why should you have to decide between one or the other when you can have both? But you know what? I don't particularly like Oreo cookies. Yeah, I'm weird, I know.

You do all with wonerful enthusiasm and now I am hungry even though I have eaten my way through the day. Am hiding this from my kids - too tasty. Mmmm.
Where have i been? I am bookmarking this recipe STAT! Thanks!
So basically you took two of the things that I crave the most and smushed them into what may be one of the most fabulous cookies I have ever seen. These cookies really do get around. They need to get around to my place so that I can eat them in mass quantities.
From your photos, they look the right consistency to be a favorite. I think I can tell if I am going to like a chocolate chipper by its look more than anything else, until I taste it.
I so need to make these, they look SO good! I try to resist buying Oreos because the whole package somehow disappears in a couple of days, but maybe I'll make an exception for these guys :)
Those cookies look scrumptious, but would never make it to the oven in my house. My daughter would eat all the cookie dough! :)
I don't usually "do" desserts but these sure do look awesome! I just might have to give them a try too! Have a great weekend! :-)
Dear gods, my mouth had an orgasm just looking at these..
Thanks for being my #1 stalker!
Those are some delicious looking cookies, how much more goodness can you pack into them?? Oreo + Chocolate Chips, woohooo - count me in!
